Business Ethics Education And Its Importance For Businesses

Business ethics is defined as right or wrong business decisions taken by an organization. Business ethics cover areas of public policy, business laws, environmentalism, corporate social responsibility and organizational ethics. Business ethics education teaches cooperation, exchange and advancement of ideas and facts in the areas of business ethics.

Business ethics is an important issue with every business organization. The people who are linked with a business must have an idea about the business ethics so that they work in a more cooperative and understanding manner.

Business ethics has now attained its rightful place in business education. Ethics involve philosophical ideas like rights, duties, justice, virtues, etc. as well as social concepts like culture and values, psychological notions like reasoning. All these social and philosophical concepts related to business ethics are now imparted in business ethics education.

The aim of business ethics education is to make their students understand how ethics pertain to corporate decisions, etc. Keeping this thing in mind, it has been often felt that the existing business curriculum needs to be revised. More strategies and actions are to be taken to make the business students understand the importance of business ethics in the business world.

Business ethics teaches the students that their business decisions taken not only help them to form sustainable business practices but also affect our society and environment around them. ThatÂ's why the business ethics courses are often labeled as Â"Corporate Social ResponsibilityÂ" or Â"Business and Society.

A good business ethics education will help the student to connect all the levels of analysis like industrial forces, corporate culture, macro environment, stakeholder groups, cultures and chain of command structures and individual decisions, together and enable them to understand that these levels do not exists in vacuum and are related to each other.

There are different approaches towards business ethics education. There is a general model for introducing ethics in business schools and there is a specific model that teaches business ethics to students by laying down certain specific examples.

Business ethics education nowadays is looking forward to establish an ethics curriculum that outlines the current curriculum of business education in schools, the current knowledge about the business ethics in these schools and a mission statement to improve the quality of business ethic education in these business schools.

Defining the curriculum to be imparted in business ethics education is a challenging job. The curriculum is designed according to what a business school is trying to accomplish in business ethics education, upon whether the school is trying to meet some standards in ethics education or the school is trying to teach students how to behave like ethical people.
