Business Ethics Are To Be Followed While Doing Online Business Too

With the increase in use of Internet in business practices world-wide, business ethics online is a hot topic for discussion these days. Is there a thing called business ethics when trading/dealing online? People even wonder whether the ethics are relevant or exist in online business.

Ethics form a necessary part of any business, whether it is a conventional one or an online one. Just like in the traditional business, there are standards that have to be maintained. To have an online business do well and last long, it is necessary to generate confidence in the customers. That can only be achieved by respecting the customer, providing them good information and following them up. This will make them stay with the business or come back to it.

Unfortunately, online businesses today hardly give a thought to ethics or to customer-satisfaction, not to talk of their confidence. Most of the businesses there are in to make a fast buck. They don't respect the industry and the customer. In fact, calling what these people are doing 'business' will be insulting the term.

The situation is far worse in case of info-products. These are, in most cases, overpriced and overhyped. Almost all products are advertised with terms as 'secrets you have never come across', 'tricks of the trade from an expert of international repute who has devoted entire life to the subject' and 'first time ever'. They are sure in their knowledge that someone or the other will buy it irrespective of the quality of the product.

Additionally, there is no reasonable methodology for fixing their costs and it is decided on whim and fancy. What these people are doing is, simply put, criminal. If they have to face the real-world conditions where they will not be able to hide behind an email address, these people will go to jail.

To be on the safe side, customers while doing business online will have to be wary of the dubious methods used by online traders. There are some smart ways to determine whether a business is good or phony. Whether dealing with real products, services, info-products or a membership, the customer must first check the credentials of the site.

Usually, the legitimate businesses provide the customer with proper contact information such as physical address, phone numbers, email address or contact name. If a site does not give this info at once, more often than not the company is a phony one. The legitimate businesses stand behind there products, offer guarantees and even free trials of their product and services.

All in all, one will have to follow business ethics online if one wants to have a long-lasting business because although one may make few fast bucks, no business can survive for a considerable period without gaining confidence of the customer.
