Ethical Training Can Help Improve The Morale Of The Employees

Many organizations have implemented ethical training programs for their employees as they foster a positive environment for work. These programs help improve the morale of the employees. Ethical training also helps organizations create an image of reliability in the eyes of the other. Only if the company has a reputation of being reputable and ethical, the employees, customers and colleagues would proudly associate with the business.

A comprehensive program of ethical training accompanied by ethical practices of the business from the upper level management and CEOs would make the employees view the organization as one team, than a bunch of individuals looking out for themselves. The morale of the employees would improve. As a matter of fact ethical training in the business would also play an important role in the retention of employees.

However, it is essential for top management to understand that the program of ethical training for employees must be structured carefully and take ethical behavior standards present in the organization into consideration. The goals of the company and what it wants to accomplish through the program must also be clearly defined.

The organization must also make sure that the ethical training program is made mandatory for all its employees. This would set a good example in front of the employees and prove that not even the highest officials in the company are above the law. Training in ethics would also enable the employees to become familiar with the code of ethics of the company and know more about the ethical models that they can use for decision making.

An ideal ethical training would cover five basic aspects of ethics: respect, responsibility, compassion, honesty and passion. The training must also include compliance laws and other related topics like using the resources of the company for official related work and not mis-utilizing them. The training should also incorporate laws about romance in the work-place as an integral part of the program.

Only when the ethical training of employees is planned and executed carefully would the employees have a clear idea of the code of ethics of the company. A strict implementation of the training would intimidate the employees about techniques of punishment for those guilty of violating the rules.

The most important portion of the training is to remind employees continuously of the ethics, long after the training has been given. The implementation, however, has to be managed by the top management.

The CEOs of the company must make sure that the measures that are discussed during the ethical training are practiced within the organization. Any incidence of misconduct reported by the employees must never be overlooked or go unpunished!
